Criffel Cottage has everything you need to relax and unwind in peaceful surroundings. We all know how important it is to take a break once in a while and our cottage is nestled in a quiet rural location ideally situated for walking, wildlife watching, cycling, or exploring the many historical places of interest.

We want you to have everything you need to make your holiday go smoothly and we provide a well equipped accommodation surrounded by farmland and wooded plantations. The stunning coastline of South West Scotland is within easy reach, where you can choose between sandy beaches or quiet coastal villages. The surrounding area is steeped in local history, with fabulous castles, and many other visitor attractions.

The cottage dates around the 1800s and was originally built for the estate workers of Comlongon Castle either for the farming or managing the Greenhill Plantation. Originally a track led from the side of the cottage into the woodland which can be seen on old maps. During the early years the Earl of Mansfield estate owned much of the land and property in the area which was part of the Comlongon Castle in the next village of Clarencefield and this dates back to the 1500s.
